AKKAOA’s 1st UKC Licensed Specialty Show Kentucky - October 31, 2003
Alaskan Klee Kai Association of America’s 1st UKC
licensed Specialty in Lexington, Kentucky held on October 31st was a great
success! Everyone, both people and dogs, had a wonderful time. Some of the
Alaskan Klee Kai even came in costume--we had a cowboy, a bee, a ladybug, a
spider and a witch. And oh, yes, there
was an "unidentified" clown with multi-colored hair seen walking an
Alaskan Klee Kai in the parking lot!
Lori Hart's Tsunami took Best of Breed in the Specialty
on Friday. And you couldn't have seen a
more beaming "mommie!" We had lots of great prizes for everyone; even
those that didn't win got a toy and a couple bags of homemade treats. Lo Binkley and Mac (AKK) drove all the way
from California (hoping their house wasn't burning to the ground) and brought
pork barbecue with all the trimmings for our Specialty Open House in Debbie
Grymkoski's poolside room. We had 15 AKK
exhibitors and several pet owners from Alaska, Arkansas, Illinois, Missouri,
Tennessee, Pennsylvania, North Carolina, New Jersey, Maryland, Ohio, and
California that made this event a big success!
The Alaskan Klee Kai pet owners deserve a BIG pat on the back as they
were a big part of making this a wonderful show by giving their time and lending
support to all of the exhibitors with generous donations of gifts and prizes.
And the winners are:
Alasco’s Kanna Shaatk’ – Tammy Martin (MO) – Female Toy of

The Mason-Dixon Club was a great club to work with. A special thanks to Ann Mauermann who judged
our Specialty. And, of course, thanks
to all who donated prizes--everyone was so generous. Kudos to the AKKAOA Board members that were able to make it to
the show to help put on this historical event and lend their support, Gail
Compton – PA, Terry Wright – AK, Lenor Knapp – TN. Last, but not least, a very big thanks to the committee who made
this, our first AKKAOA Specialty, a huge success and a special acknowledgement
to those committee members (Susie Cain of PA, Gail Compton of PA, Debbie
Grymkoski of IL, Lo Binkley of CA, Terry Wright of AK) who traveled far and
wide to be there! Only one of our
committee members, Eileen Gregory, could not make it due to health
reasons. We hope Eileen can make it to the next AKKAOA Show.
Lots of pictures were taken by Lenor Knapp and you are welcome to view them at:
