Welcome to our home. We are an international organization devoted to the promotion and welfare of Alaskan Klee Kai, serving as a resource for owners, breeders, fanciers and the general public.
Alaskan Klee Kai are purebred dogs.
If you are considering adopting one, do your research and be sure to buy one that is UKC registered. The United Kennel Club is the only legitimate* registry that recognizes this breed.
Registration papers may not matter to you now but what it represents is HUGE. Support ethical breeding habits, get a health guarantee and maintain the quality of this breed by working with an AKKAOA Breeder!
*Some breeders also register with the American Rare Breed Association
AKC Foundation Stock Service
The Alaskan Klee Kai was accepted into the American Kennel Club's Foundation Stock Service (AKC FSS) in October 2020, and is on the road to become part of the AKC Non-Sporting Group. AKK with UKC registration can now be entered into the AKC FSS records, and once registered, are permitted to compete in all AKK companion events (agility, obedience, rally, and tracking) and open shows. Recording your AKK will help the breed to move forward in achieving full recognition, registration, and full participation qualification.

Somewhere, within the Great Land called Alaska, between the massive mountains, the vast oceans, the silent tundra and the endless sheets of ice, the Glacier Witch looked down and smiled at the bright eyed tiny form in front of her.
After rescuing it from the icy waters, and drying it before the fire, it appeared somewhat smaller than before, and she was pleased. For the little Husky's smaller size would make it an ideal companion.
She searched the various native dialects and deriving its name from the Eskimo words for 'little dog', she christened the masked creature, 'Klee Kai'.
